Patrick zoekt: Een Kamer / Huurwoning / Studio / Appartement in Leiden

Hi, I’m Patrick, a Dutch-Australian citizen from Australia moving to Leiden to begin my Master’s in International Relations at Leiden University. I am deeply passionate about human rights, diplomacy, and the way history shapes today’s geopolitical world, and I see this next chapter in Leiden as a genuine step toward my long-term goal of working in international diplomacy.

I tend to bring a lot of curiosity and energy into everything I do, whether that is academic work, creative projects, or exploring new ideas. I am very responsible and grounded in daily life, especially when it comes to housing, cleanliness, and shared spaces. I value structure and calm at home, and I take renting seriously, always treating a place with respect and care.

Financially, I am secure for my stay, with sufficient savings to cover a full year of rent if required, as well as strong parental financial support and guarantor backing available.

I am semi-fluent in Dutch, fluent in English and German, and speak/understand a little Spanish. Being both Dutch and Australian, I feel very connected to Europe while also having a broader international outlook. I am especially motivated to improve my Dutch further through everyday life, conversations, and being fully immersed in the Netherlands.

Outside of study, I am very creative and reflective. I love reading widely, especially history, political philosophy, and international affairs, but I also jump between interests quite fluidly in a way that keeps life engaging. I write poetry, often quite spontaneously, as a way of processing ideas and moments. I also enjoy photography, particularly capturing architecture, movement, and everyday scenes that feel quietly meaningful.

Socially, I enjoy a mix of energy and calm. I like coffee walks, spontaneous conversations, and spending time in galleries or museums, but also relaxed evenings with friends, live music, or just good conversation over drinks. I enjoy a household that feels friendly but respectful, where people are doing their own thing but still connected.

I am genuinely excited to get involved in student life in Leiden, meet people from different backgrounds, and build a strong sense of community while I am there. I also plan to travel extensively throughout the Netherlands and neighbouring countries, especially to explore history, culture, and different perspectives across Europe.

Overall, I am looking for a stable and welcoming home where I can focus on my studies, stay inspired, and also have space to think, create, and grow. I am very much looking forward to settling in Leiden and making it a real base for this next stage of my academic and personal journey.
